Well, here I am.  60 years old, working just one day a week at a local nursing home.  Occasionally, I teach a knitting or crochet class - and do some contract knitting.  I vend a show once in awhile, too.  Since I'm a bit of a yarn snob ( seriously - I'm a terrible yarn snob), my handknits are a little spendy.  But I do stand by my work and haven't heard any complaints.  Either the people I knit for are too nice to say anything, or I do a pretty good job.

I'm blessed to have 2 grandsons.  They are the loves of my life, but unfortunately they live very far away.  One in Virginia - one in Scotland.  Someday I'll go into detail about how my offspring have scattered around the world.  I'm very proud of all of them.  Anyway - I love to knit for my grands.......my challenge is to finish something and get it to them before they outgrow it!  Another grand will be coming soon in Scotland - so the things that were too small are there and ready for little brother or sister.

Two of my great joys are directing the community choirs in our area.  One is an SATB choir - we perform cantatas at Easter and Christmas.  I know of no better way to celebrate the birth and the resurrection of our Lord than through music!  The other choir meets year round.  Our members are cognitively disabled adults.  We give 3 concerts a year and also sing at several community events throughout the year.

My husband and I do music at some area senior centers and nursing homes, too.  He's a brilliant guitar player and we both love to sing.  My husband is my rock.  He makes all our concerts happen by setting up stage and sound.  He teaches at a Job Corps as a GED counselor and upper level Math Teacher.  He scared me to death last fall with a heart attack, but 5 stents later, he seems to be healthy and strong again.

So this is who I am......my first entry is my introduction.   I'm planning to use this blog as kind of a journal as I work on shedding a few pounds, finding more gainful employment, developing my skills and doing some home improvements.  If you find it entertaining, too - then I won't feel like I'm wasting my time!   Until next time..........  Linda
